Polní Voděrady: Hotels and Accommodation

Polní Voděrady is a place with a written mention dating back to 1088 and a historic ensemble consisting of a church and chateau. At the same time, the cadastral area is characterized by a predominantly agricultural landscape.

History and Architecture

Polní Voděrady is first mentioned in 1088 as property of the Vyšehrad Chapter. The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, together with the chateau, forms one of the historic architectural landmarks of Polní Voděrady.

The present-day Polní Voděrady Chateau is a Neoclassical building erected at a new location in 1810–1811. Only the brewery cellar remains of the former brewery building in Polní Voděrady. It was renovated as part of the chateau reconstruction in 2014–2016 and incorporated into the chateau park.

The historic features of the village also include the statue of Saint Francis Xavier, a Baroque sandstone sculpture dating from 1736–1739. It stands on the northeastern edge of Polní Voděrady on the road to Kolín and is freely accessible. The still-used cemetery next to the church contains several notable gravestones from the second half of the 19th century.

Landscape and Surroundings

In the wider regional surroundings of Polní Voděrady are Zámek Kačina, a chateau, and Hořánck, a mountain. The nearby surroundings also include Na Skalce [Dolní Chvatliny-Mančice], Chlum, and Kamýk [Krychnov]; all three are hills.

Agricultural land makes up the largest part of the cadastral area of Polní Voděrady. Forests, meadows, and grassland are found there only rarely.
