Praskolesy: Hotels and Accommodations

Praskolesy was first mentioned in 1216. The built-up area of the village is classified as a Category UAN I archaeological area and includes a village, a settlement, and a burial site dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

Culture and History

In the village center, south of the village square, the Church of Saint Nicholas stands on a slight elevation. The foundation stone of the parish church was laid in 1620, and it was completed in 1710. On the north side of the church slope, a covered staircase leads to the cemetery wall; at its foot stands a cast-iron memorial cross on a stone pedestal.

South of the church stands the Chapel of Saint Procopius. The small building has a rectangular floor plan with a three-sided termination, Gothic windows, and a Gothic portal. The chapel is a small late Baroque building from 1832. Inside are a statue of Saint Procopius from the late 14th century and wall paintings by J. Scheiwl. Deans of the Karlštejn Chapter were also buried in the chapel.

On a small island in the middle of the village square stands the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, a small late Baroque building from 1832. Inside is a statue whose pedestal bears the date 1758.

The deanery of Praskolesy is a Baroque building from the late 17th century. It was formerly the seat of a dean of the Karlštejn Chapter. It is located in the northwestern part of the municipality at a bridge over the Červený potok. The parish of Praskolesy is a two-story Baroque building from the first quarter of the 18th century. It lies northeast of the Church of Saint Nicholas; an extensive garden stretches south and southeast of it.

Landscape and Nature

The landscape values of Praskolesy include the significant Červený potok watercourse with its riverside and accompanying vegetation, a floodplain landscape with alluvial forests, ponds, and wetlands, as well as the adjacent wooded slopes.

Koupaliště u skály is a functioning, combined local biocenter covering an area of 5.4 hectares. It includes a former swimming pool, ponds, an ash-alder alluvial forest, and forest stands with rock outcrops above the right bank of the watercourse. The LBK.55-56 Červený potok biocorridor in Praskolesy is predominantly functional, 1,290 meters long, and covers 3.6 hectares.

Recreation and Trails

The multi-purpose sports field in Praskolesy is in operation and intended for recreational use by residents as well as local sports clubs. The blue-marked hiking trail through Praskolesy follows the Žebrák–Chlustina–Praskolesy–Otmíče–Lochovice route. The green-marked hiking trail only partially touches the southern tip of the cadastral territory of Praskolesy at the Pohodnice farmstead.
