Beroun is situated on the Berounka River and on the border of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area.

History

Beroun’s historic town center was declared an urban heritage zone in 1992. Large parts of Beroun’s fortifications have been preserved; as a result, Beroun is considered one of the Czech towns with the best-preserved town walls.

Culture

The traditional Beroun pottery markets take place three times a year. The Beroun Ceramics Museum has a functioning ceramics workshop with a potter’s wheel and kiln.

Nature

At the northern edge of Beroun, the Václav Talich Educational Trail offers a 7 km blue route lasting approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, as well as a shorter 3.5 km green route. The educational trail has 14 stations covering the local flora, including rare plant species, the diverse fauna with a focus on birdlife, the valley’s geological features, and places associated with Václav Talich.

The Ostrý Educational Trail provides information about the local flora and fauna. It is a three-kilometer route with ten information panels, four of which are educational panels with interactive elements.
