Tmaň: Hotels and Accommodation

Tmaň lies in a small hollow southwest of Beroun, on the edge of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The town combines this setting with a château, historic religious buildings and educational trails in the surrounding area.

Culture

The château in Tmaň is a three-winged, three-storey building with a façade articulated by Rococo elements. The painter M. Aleš visited it from 1909 to 1912, found there the landscape of his later years and drew several pictures of Tmaň.

Outside the village, the Church of St George stands alone at a crossroads, surrounded by a cemetery. Archaeological finds show that the church site was an ancient cult site at the centre of an extensive burial ground, whose origins date back to the Bronze Age. The cross and bell tower by the pond were erected in 1899.

In Tmaň, a Gothic portal has been preserved on the ground floor of a single-storey building with small turrets; the building is awaiting reconstruction.

The niche chapel of Saint Blaise on Koukolova hora was commissioned in 1832 by Antonín Karel Mudroch, then rector of Charles University and owner of the Tmaň estate. It was completely restored in 2010; older maps marked it as a ruin.

Nature

In the vicinity of Tmaň, the educational trail from Slavíky leads to the Kotýz National Nature Monument, with significant karst formations and protected flora and fauna of the rocky steppes. The Koukolova hora–Kotýz educational trail begins in Slavíky near Tmaň.

Trails

The Koukolova hora–Kotýz–Koněprusy educational trail leads over Koukolova hora, with its niche chapel of Saint Blaise and a former limestone quarry. The Koukolova hora–Kotýz section is 5.2 km long and includes 13 stations with information panels.

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Králův Dvůr-Popovice railway station on Line 170 from Prague to Pilsen to Koukolova hora and continues to the Koněprusy Caves.
