Psáry: Hotels and Accommodation

The Záhořanský potok stream rises in the northern part of Psáry, alongside which a hiking trail runs. From Psáry, there is also an approximately 10 km-long hiking and cycling tour through the surrounding area; the described tour is an easy outing for families with children.

Nature

Psáry lies on the northwestern edge of the Benešovská pahorkatina uplands. In connection with this landscape setting, parts of the Hornopožárské lesy forests and Přírodní Park Střed Čech are mentioned.

History

The first written record of Psáry dates from 1088. The local primary school dates from 1693.

The first fortress in Psáry is associated with the Karlskolleg estate. The second fortress in Psáry is first mentioned in a purchase agreement from 1573; it fell into disrepair during the Thirty Years’ War and was not rebuilt afterwards.

Culture

Kostel svatého Václava in Psáry is a cultural monument dating from the 12th century. The enclosed complex of Kostel svatého Václava lies on the road between Psáry and Jesenice.

Svatováclavské posvícení is held in Dolní Jirčany as a traditional festival with stalls, fair food, workshops, and entertainment for children. It includes a knights’ tournament and a puppet theatre.

Transport Connections

Bus route 334 connects Smíchovské nádraží railway station with Psáry and operates in the opposite direction as well. Bus route 332 operates between Budějovická and Krhanice or Prosečnice and back.
