In Rudná u Prahy, St. George’s Church stands on the artificial Homole hill. The new St. George’s Church, also referred to as the Church of the Beheading of St. George, was built between 1908 and 1910 in the Pseudo-Romanesque style.

Culture and History

Another building is the Husův sbor in Rudná, a prayer hall built in 1925 in the style of geometric modernism. The protected Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist comprises the church building and the demarcated plots of land. The church is considered high-quality, dynamically designed High Baroque architecture with balanced proportions and a visual landmark of the municipality.

In Hořelice, the protected castle complex comprises the castle building čp. 554 with an adjoining granary, stables, a gloriette, an enclosure wall and the demarcated plots of land. The complex is located southwest of Hořelický náměstí on 5. května and Pod Můstkem streets. The castle with its farmyard forms an architectural and urban-planning landmark of the municipality and is designated an immovable cultural monument.

In 1983, a Slavic burial of a girl from the late 11th or 12th century was discovered in Hořelice, about 50 metres from the Baroque Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist that stands there today.

Rudná lies in a gently undulating landscape; the local surroundings were shaped by the Radotínský potok stream.

The Rudná educational trail consists of seventeen information panels and was created by the City of Rudná in 2016. It can also be followed interactively on the city’s geoportal.

Rudná u Prahy railway station is located on railway lines 122 and 173 and is integrated into the public transport system. All platforms at the station are step-free accessible.
