Sudoměř: Hotels and Accommodation

Sudoměř combines sacred architectural history, archaeology, and railway engineering – three different approaches to a place with specific, identifiable points of reference.

Culture

On the southern side of the village square stands the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Sudoměř, a Baroque sacred building protected as a cultural monument since 1967. The Baroque main altar dates from around 1735 to 1740. In front of the church, on the village square, stands the wooden bell tower of Sudoměř. It consists of oak beams connected with wooden nails or wooden pegs instead of nails.

History

On the eastern side of the village lies Hrádek u Sudoměře, an archaeological site on an elongated spur. The archaeological area of Sudoměř is classified as a hilltop settlement, fortification, and village. The Zadní Hrádek acropolis covers approximately 1.8 hectares and was fortified by a wide ditch and a massive rampart.

Railways

A separate focus is the Railway Museum in Sudoměř. It specializes in a collection of hand-operated and motorized rail trolleys. This collection is the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Transport

Sudoměř u Ml. Boleslavi railway station is integrated into the integrated transport system.

Geographical Context

In the wider regional surroundings of Sudoměř are the Lysá, Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov], Velká Buková, and Malá Buková mountains. In this wider regional area, Starý Berštejn is a ruin; U Svatého Vojtěcha and Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice are churches there.
