Svojetín: Hotels and accommodation

The Baroque Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Svojetín was built in 1721–1722. It stands on the village green opposite House No. 5 (registration number 2688). The almost square stone-and-brick building is covered with white plaster and has a gabled roof covered with slate tiles. A hexagonal bell turret without a bell, topped with an onion dome, sits on the roof. Inside are a stone altar and a polychrome, curved statue of the saint.

Culture and history

Of the listed Socha Panny Marie s Jezulátkem in Svojetín, only the prismatic sandstone pedestal on a square base remains; the statue of the Madonna and Child was stolen. The pedestal bears an inscription and the date 1714. The Baroque stone column with a statue of Saint Roch also dates from that year. It is a national cultural monument and stands beside a road outside the built-up area. The statue of Saint Roch was erected in 1714 after the village was spared from a plague epidemic.

In the “Na Starém zámku” woodland lies Tvrziště Dub, a rectangular fortified site measuring 100 × 80 metres. It is protected by a rampart to the south and east, additionally by a ditch to the north, and by a steep slope to the west.

The area’s sacred architectural heritage also includes the branch church of All Saints in Veclov, Svojetín, with documented parish history dating back to 1351, as well as the Baroque brick pillar shrine Boží muka from around 1725.

The surroundings of Svojetín include the Zřícenina Pravda ruins, Džbán Mountain, Loustín Mountain, and the U Svatého Gotharda Church. In the wider regional area there are also the Svatý Prokop Monument and the Zřícenina Lina ruins.

Landscape and nature

In the vicinity of Svojetín are the (Ve vinglu) [Měcholupy-Velká Černoc] hill and Novoveský vrch hill [Děkov]. The village’s natural heritage includes the Dub ve Svojetíně oak, which was first placed under protection on 15 October 1990.
