Příčina combines the history of a writer born there with tangible traces in the town, protected natural features, and several named sites in the surrounding area.

Culture and history

Tomáš Antonín Pánek was born in Příčina on 22 February 1901 and wrote more than two dozen adventure novels for young readers. The slopes above Příčina were a popular destination for outings by the writer who was born there during his childhood.

Opposite the municipal office stands the 18th-century cross of Antonín Nachtikal. The park opposite the municipal office is also home to the protected Jilm drsný I. tree and the memorial to the fallen of Příčina.

The surviving remains of Příčinská tvrz are visible today in a row of houses to the east, toward the former school building, and on the northern side of the former enclosure. Wall remains more than two metres high survive from Příčinská tvrz. The historic colony in Příčina consisted of ten semi-detached houses built as workers’ accommodation for the “Ludvík” hard-coal mine; some of them have survived to this day despite alterations.

West of Příčina, Kamenné stádo lies in the forest in the direction of Petrovice. At Vrch Divín, there is a viewpoint at the water tower on the road from Příčina to Žďáry. In clear weather, Příčská hora offers views of the Ore Mountains and the power stations of northern Bohemia.
