Úmyslovice: Hotels and Accommodation

The development of Úmyslovice is concentrated around a spacious village green consisting of an orchard, with the church standing in its centre.

Culture

The Church of St. Linhart is a Neoclassical building dating from 1812 that incorporates part of the masonry of an older church. The complex of the Church of St. Linhart, including the surrounding wall, gate and associated land, is protected as a cultural monument. Six tombstones have been preserved from the former cemetery of the Church of St. Linhart. A commemorative plaque for J. F. Coulon de Thévenot, the inventor of French shorthand, who was buried here, is located on the southern wall of the nave.

St. Leonard in Úmyslovice is a subsidiary church and was formerly a parish church. The monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands in the centre of Úmyslovice.

Townscape

A bus stop is located on the village green in the central part of Úmyslovice. Bus services operate on the route between Poděbrady, Dymokury and Městec Králové and serve Úmyslovice.

Landscape

Near Úmyslovice, terrain depressions and bank edges remain as traces of the former Blato pond. The vanished Blato pond also lay within the cadastral area and municipality of Úmyslovice. The historic Šembor pond was situated above the village; a second dam edge was located opposite the village of Netřebice. A water basin was created on the culverted stream running through the centre of the village.

Paths

A preserved section of Polská cesta leads west from Úmyslovice into the fields and ends after a few dozen metres. The preserved section of Polská cesta is lined with grass strips and rows of fruit trees and is considered a rare example of a landscape feature that survived elsewhere only until the 1950s. The Polská cesta near Úmyslovice belongs to the newer so-called northern variant of a long-distance route to Kłodzko and onwards to Poland. There are no marked hiking or cycling trails in the Úmyslovice area.
