Vestec: Hotels and Accommodation
In Vestec, the educational Planet Trail begins at the intersection of the cycle paths by Vestecký rybník. It runs for 1.4 km and features information panels about all the planets in the Solar System. The Planet Trail also includes a planetarium climbing structure depicting the most common constellations.
Paths and Landscape
The recreational area at Vestecký rybník includes a pier and several viewing pontoons. From 1700 onward, Vestecký rybník belonged, together with the municipality, to the Dolní Břežany estate, which was administered by the Prague Archbishopric.
Alej svobody leads from Vestecký rybník towards Hrnčíře, following an old field road. At the same time, it forms part of the yellow-marked KČT hiking trail between Kunratice and Průhonice. Alej svobody is lined with fruit trees of old Czech varieties; at its beginning there is also a flower meadow, wooden footbridges and seating. Alej prince Philipa is an avenue of 100 lime trees along the cycle path towards Kunratice, near the retention basin.
Nature
The Dendrologická stezka Vestec, unveiled in 2024, runs through various parts of the municipality and presents 15 trees with descriptions of their significance and uses available via QR code.
Culture and History
In October 2022, a Poesiomat was unveiled on Alej prince Philipa; it recites poems, sings and shares interesting facts about Vestec. Around 1360, Vestec, then referred to as “villa Beska”, was first mentioned in writing in connection with the royal castle of Kostelec n/Sázavou, whose domain included the settlement. The pilgrimage tradition in Vestec continues in a modified form. Nearby there is a stone monument and a bell tower dating from 1831.
Public Places
The Sportovní centrum TJ Viktoria Vestec is intended for public use and, by arrangement, can be made available at specific times for educational, sporting, social and commercial activities.
Komunitní zahrada Vestec is open to the general public every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during its regular open days; a traditional sale of farm products takes place during this time.
