Vidim: Hotels and Accommodation
Vidim features a townscape with a traditional settlement structure and characteristic features of linear development. The historic town centre is protected as a village heritage zone.
Culture
The cultural heritage includes the Vidimský zámek complex, which is protected as an immovable cultural monument. It comprises extensive castle gardens and a rich collection of sculptures.
In the northern part of Vidim, opposite the castle complex, stands the present-day Neo-Gothic Church of Saint Martin, built in 1878. Its enclosure contains 14 niche chapels forming a Stations of the Cross.
Starý zámek is a ruin and an archaeologically documented rock castle site dating from the 14th to the 15th century, preserved through traces in the terrain.
Nature
The Vidim area lies within the Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area. It has a dense network of marked hiking trails. Some trails pass through challenging terrain and over rocks that must be negotiated using chains.
Shopping opportunities for drinks and snacks are limited in the protected landscape area; sturdy footwear and sufficient drinking water are recommended.
Trails and Terrain
Climbing in the Vidimský důl is permitted year-round within designated polygons.
Route 3091 Mšeno–Vyhlídky–Horní Vidim reaches Horní Vidim at 18.5 km.
The Vidimské lávky allow for a walk among the sandstone rocks near Vidim. They run along the edges of ravines over steps, cuts and passageways carved into the sandstone, bridging the ravines. Many of the Vidimské lávky are in poor condition and have missing railings; sturdy footwear is recommended for the walk.
