Vojkovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Vojkovice combines a historic town center that has been well preserved to this day with the ancient settlement landscape of the Czech Elbe Lowlands. The area has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic period.

History and Townscape

The first written mention of Vojkovice as “villa Voykouici” dates back to 1088. At that time, King Vratislav II donated the village to the newly founded Vyšehrad Chapter.

The original town center around the village green has been well preserved to this day. Large agricultural farmsteads stand in the north, while smaller buildings are located in the south; these were probably shaped by the parcelling carried out during the Raabisation reforms in the 18th century.

Landscape and Water

Vojkovice is situated on fertile gravel and sand terraces in the lower Vltava region. The municipality stretches in the south from the Dřínovský vrch massif to the Vltava river in the north. The Kozárovický potok flows through the village, a remnant of the Vltava’s original river course.

The Vejčina hill [Dolní Beřkovice] and the Na Vrších hill [Cítov] are located in the surroundings of Vojkovice. Mount Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov] lies in the wider regional surroundings of Vojkovice; the island of Velké Benátky is also located in this wider regional area.

Culture in the Surrounding Area

Zámek Ostrov Castle is located near Vojkovice. The wider regional surroundings of Vojkovice also include the Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum, Letohrádek královny Anny Castle and the Galerie Rudolfinum Museum.

Cycle Path and Connection

Cycle Route No. 2 runs through Vojkovice from Kralupy nad Vltavou via Nelahozeves and Mělník to Ústí nad Labem. Road II/101 also passes through Vojkovice.
