Vráž: Hotels and accommodation

Vráž is located on the edge of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Vráž has a massive prismatic tower with a chisel-shaped roof.

History

The present-day Church of Saint Bartholomew was built around 1380. Archaeological finds in Vráž provide evidence of settlement dating back to the Paleolithic; the first written mention of Vráž dates from 1320.

Routes and landscape

The yellow-marked route from Vráž via Svatý Jan pod Skalou to Karlštejn begins at the “Vráž - rozcestí k želez. stanici” stop. A yellow-marked hiking trail also leads from Svatý Jan pod Skalou to Vráž railway station.

The nearby surroundings of Vráž include Doutnáč Mountain, Herinky Hill (Svatý Jan pod Skalou), and Velký vrch Hill (Nenačovice). Hradec Mountain is located in the wider regional area.

Orientation

Access to the Vráž u Berouna railway station building is barrier-free. The Lhotka lookout point lies northwest of Vráž, outside the municipality boundary; from a 24-metre-high telecommunications tower, it offers views of Beroun, Český kras, and Křivoklátsko.

Culture

Karlštejn is a castle in the vicinity of Vráž. Svatý Jiří, a church, is also located in the vicinity of Vráž. The wider regional area around Vráž includes Letohrádek královny Anny Palace and the Galerie Rudolfinum museum.

The recurring Advent programme in Vráž begins with the lighting of the Christmas tree, an expanded nativity scene at the church, and a community gathering.
