The chapel on the hill above Xaverov is characterized by three mature horse chestnut trees. Mount BlanÃk is also clearly visible from Xaverov.
Landscape
The wooded northern and southern parts of Xaverov’s administrative area form a valuable natural setting. The landscape in this part of the Benešov Region is suitable for recreation.
History and Townscape
The former Choratice glassworks operated at the site where Xaverov was established from 1730 to 1746. The estate in Xaverov was acquired by the Prague Jesuit College in 1752 and renamed Xaverhof in honor of Saint Francis Xavier. A monument to those who fell in the First World War stands beside the Xaverov cemetery; the cemetery itself contains a cross depicting Christ.
Paths and Transport
A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through the northern part of the Xaverov area from west to east. The road from Choratice to Xaverov, as well as the roads within Xaverov, are used by motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. From the D1 motorway, Xaverov can be reached via the exit near Ostředek.
Cycling Routes
Between Xaverov and Choratice, there is an opportunity to turn onto an approximately 16-kilometer circular route along farm tracks to the ÄŒestÃn forester’s lodge and Drahňovice. Another cycling route leads via BÄ›lokozly to Xaverov and onward to Choratice.
Geographical Location
Because of its short distance from the Sázava River, Xaverov is often considered part of the central Posázavà region.
