Kosice is first mentioned in 1315. The village landscape is characterized, among other things, by a state-protected avenue of linden trees surrounding the central village square. The square is also home to a monument commemorating the victims of the wars.

History and Village Landscape

On the property of house no. 24, the circular grounds of a former wooden water fortress have been preserved. Kosice is also home to a stone cross dating from the 19th century. The cemetery chapel of Kosice was renovated in 2008; its new bell was consecrated on October 23, 2010.

Landscape

At the southern edge of Kosice, the Bystřice flows through an old riverbed. A new riverbed runs 200 m farther downstream. The Rozhledna Kosice is located at the end of a relatively large private park that is open to the public and contains two ponds.

The wooden Rozhledna Kosice was built in 2017 on a hill formed by dredging the local ponds.

Traditions and Events

A New Year's Eve walk to Luhy traditionally takes place in Kosice. Mulled wine and tea are served, and refreshments are offered to participants at the forester's lodge. The Vrzáňovy Kosice brass band festival took place for the 13th time on Saturday, July 16, 2022, starting at 1 p.m.
