Písek: Hotels and Accommodation

Písek lies on the southern edge of the Východolabská tabule. The town brings together clearly defined sporting competitions, community cooking and baking gatherings, and historical and archaeological connections.

Sporting Events

The Písecký duatlon consists of a 3 km run, a 30 km road cycling section, and another 3 km run. In the 2025 edition, the 30 km cycling route led from Písek via Kosice, Kosičky, Babice, Trnava, Boharyně, Zvíkov, Barchov, Barchůvek, Měník and Bydžovská Lhotka to Mlékosrby and back to Písek.

The Písecký koloběh is a 5 km competition for mixed two-person teams, in which one person runs and the other rides a mountain bike. In the 2025 edition, the approximately 5 km route included a crossing of the Bystřice via a ford. The miniduatlon consists of a 1 km run, a 5 km mountain biking section, and another 1 km run.

The Písecký turnaj v nohejbalu is a traditional sporting tournament for two-person teams; the 2025 edition was the 18th held. Fishing competitions organised by SDH Písek took place at Hejbánek on 4 October 2025.

History and Water

The historic Písecký pond covered 114 hectares. Archaeologists discovered the remains of the dam of a late-medieval fishpond with an outlet or overflow in Písek near Chlumec nad Cidlinou. In terms of its extent and state of preservation, the dam discovered has no comparable counterpart in East Bohemian archaeology.

The Památník Svobody was erected in Písek in 1920 in memory of local residents who fell in the First World War.

Food and Festivals

Sousedské vaření a pečení is a recurring culinary gathering at the Písek fire station. It included children baking sweet and savoury strudels, as well as a competition for the best Moravian tlačené koláče.

Písecké posvícení traditionally takes place on the first weekend in November. It includes posvícenské koláčky as well as a public family programme with music, dancing, a children's carnival and a disco.
