Sendražice: Hotels and Accommodation

Sendražice combines evidence of local history with a marked educational trail and a landscape characterised as a forestry-agricultural landscape type. The place is first documented in 1297; at that time, Ondřej ze Sendražic owned land there.

History and Architecture

The monument to the members of the Austrian 9th Field Jäger Battalion in Sendražice is a monumental Secessionist sandstone monument in the form of a stele. It is dedicated to four soldiers of the Austrian 9th Field Jäger Battalion and the former fighter Josef Holdík from Sendražice. A small bell tower and an atonement cross stand beneath the commemorative linden tree.

The Church of St. Stanislaus has a Gothic core dating from the mid-14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. It stands on a prominent spur at the northeastern edge of Sendražice, in a roughly oval cemetery enclosed by a boundary wall.

Farmstead No. 74 is enclosed on all four sides and comprises a residential building, a barn and former stables. It is a Neoclassical rural farmstead typical of the Hradecko region and dates from around the middle of the 19th century.

Landscape and Trails

The Naučná stezka educational trail is marked, moderately difficult and suitable for pedestrians and cyclists; in some sections, it follows marked hiking and cycling trails. Near Sendražice, it splits; one branch leads through Sendražice to Hořiněves.

For cyclists, the Okruh bojištěm bitvy 1866 cycling loop also runs via Neděliště, Sendražice and Lochenice towards Hradec Králové.
