Sadová lies in the valley of the Bystřice stream, on both sides of the E442 road and the Hradec Králové–Jičín railway line. The Battle of Hradec Králové is also known as the Battle of Sadová or the Battle of Chlum.

History and Culture

The group of monuments commemorating the 1866 war in Sadová comprises twelve monuments and memorial plaques. These include a central monument, a monument marking a mass grave, memorial monuments, crosses, and plaques.

The military cemetery in Sadová was established for people who died in local wartime hospitals. The cemetery contains the grave of Hermann von Pannewitz, a Prussian lieutenant colonel of the 3rd Garde-Grenadier Regiment.

Václav Jiří Smetana, the grandfather of Bedřich Smetana, was born in Sadová on 17 January 1730.
