Meziluzi: Hotels and accommodations

The blue-marked hiking trail from Vyskeř to Podkost passes through Meziluží. Natural areas, paths through the Český ráj and a rich local history give the place a clearly recognizable character.

Nature and landscape

The Meziluží Natural Monument lies approximately 1 km northwest of the village of Meziluží. An area near Meziluží is considered one of two known sites where the green-winged orchid (Orchis morio) is found in the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area. Until 1994, the old orchard on this site was used as a sheep pasture; grazing resumed in 2001.

Today, areas in the Meziluží natural site are mowed or grazed by sheep and goats. After woody growth was removed, the areas in Meziluží were likewise mowed or grazed by sheep and goats. The name Meziluží is associated with its location between wet meadows and alluvial forests.

Cycling routes

A 42.2 km route through the Český ráj runs via Dobšice and Meziluží; from the Podvyskeřský mlýn junction, it follows the yellow trail to Věžák. A cycling route from Kost Castle leads to the road to Dobšice and Meziluží; beyond Meziluží, it continues through forests to Road No. 279, which leads to Žehrov.

History and crafts

It was not until 1883 that a road reached Meziluží. Linen produced in the past was bleached on a large hill near Meziluží. The local clay-rich soil, known as Červenice, was used in Meziluží to repair tiled stoves, ovens and clay threshing floors in barns.
