Culture and history

Near Jičín District, the Nová Paka City Museum presents permanent exhibitions on geological development, gemstones, volcanism, local history, spiritism, and nativity scenes. Nature and trails

Near Jičín District, sandstone towers rise up to 40 meters high in the Prachov Rocks. There are well-maintained marked walking circuits, information panels, and viewpoints. Parking lots are located near the entrances; routes of 1.5 kilometers, 2.5 kilometers, and 3.5 kilometers are available, as well as a route designed for strollers.

The 16-kilometer Rumcajs hike connects Jičín with Brada, Prachov, and the Prachov Rocks. The Podtrosecká Valleys Nature Reserve is a wetland complex with ponds and waterways in sandstone-lined gorges and is home to protected plant and animal species. The Mariánská Garden is a Baroque landscape composition with sacred buildings hidden in forests and connected by old avenues and clearings.

Marked hiking trails lead from Jičín to Zebín. For road traffic, access ends at the Zebín farmstead, approximately 1 kilometer from the summit. From the summit of Zebín, there are views of the Prachov Rocks, Trosky, and other regional landmarks.

Getting around the surrounding area

Tourist bus route 510 connects Jičín with the Prachov Rocks, the area around Sobotka, and Kost; selected services carry bicycles. A longer cycling loop around the Mariánská Garden starts and ends in Jičín and passes through Staré Hrady and Markvartice. A route around Jičín connects Valdštejnská Lodžie, Zebín, and Milohlídka.
