Liban: Hotels and accommodations

Liban can be explored through four clearly identifiable themes: culture and history, nature, trails, and a musical tradition.

Culture and history

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Baroque building that Josef Hager had constructed between 1755 and 1757 on the site of an earlier wooden chapel. Since 1964, the Church of the Holy Spirit has been protected as a cultural monument. Inside are rare Baroque organs, which were completely renovated in 1998. The statue of St. Joseph dates from 1783 and was moved from the square to the Church of the Holy Spirit in 1925.

The monument to Master Jan Hus stands on Svobody Square. Based on a design by Prof. Ladislav Šaloun, it was created by the sculptor František Bílek and unveiled on July 6, 1925.

Another historical landmark is the monument to Karel Havlíček Borovský, erected in Libáň in 1909. It was designed and created by the sculptor Jaroslav Jedlička from Vojice.

Nature

The Libáňská borovička is a memorial tree more than 300 years old at the place called Na Horách above Libáň. It is considered a symbol of Libáň.

The Pilský Pond lies on the Hasinský Stream and covers 50 hectares. It serves as a nesting and gathering place for birds.

Hiking and surroundings

A red-marked long-distance hiking trail runs through Libáň.

The Libáň Hill [Libáň] lies in the immediate vicinity of Libáň. Přivýšina Mountain is located near Libáň. The Střelečská hůra Mountain and U Borku Mountain [Záhornice u Městce Králové] are also located in the vicinity. Valdštejn Church lies in the wider regional surroundings of Libáň.

Music

The “Libáňský hudební máj” music festival was founded in 2001 to continue the tradition of the event of the same name.
