Říkov: Hotels and Accommodation

The Chapel of the Guardian Angels is considered the village’s most significant landmark and dates from the first half of the 19th century. The Chapel of the Guardian Angels was reconstructed at the municipality’s expense in 2012 and was particularly known for pilgrimages held on the first Sunday in May.

Landscape

The landscape of Říkov is shaped not only by arable land and meadows but also by orchards, especially apple orchards. Říkov lies in the Úpsko-metujská tabule geomorphological subregion and in the Úpa river basin. The elevation ranges from 270 to 300 metres.

Culture and History

The cross at the turnoff to Velká Jesenice was donated in 1892 by the young men of Říkov. The cross at the crossroads to Doubravice was donated in 1899 by the young women of Říkov. An obelisk on the road to Velký Třebešov commemorates the first written mention of Říkov in 1366 and stands on the site of an earlier apple tree.

The Říkov archaeological site provides evidence of settlement and production activities from the Paleolithic, the Urnfield period, the La Tène period, the Roman Imperial period and the Middle Ages. During a rescue excavation on the northeastern edge of Říkov, Feature 96 was uncovered and interpreted as the remains of a La Tène pottery kiln.
