Slavětín Nad Metují: Hotels and Accommodations

Slavětín nad Metují combines a distinctive village history with specific nature and cycling attractions. One of the most prominent buildings is the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which is considered a landmark of the village and was completed in 1887.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is an active Roman Catholic place of worship belonging to the parish of Česká Skalice. A service is held there once a month, on the last Sunday of the month, at 10:00 a.m.

The war memorial in Slavětín was ceremonially unveiled on July 11, 1937, as the first memorial of its kind in the Novoměstsko area. It was restored and renewed on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of November 17. A plaque bears the names of 16 fallen soldiers from the years 1914–1918.

Nature and Landscape

The history of the landscape is also visible in Slavětín nad Metují. During the First World War, prisoners of war dug a new riverbed for the Metuje. The irrigation system on the Metuje was used for a very long time, but is no longer fully functional today.

At Tuří rybník, reed beds provide rare birds with shelter and nesting sites. Visitors are asked to stay on the paths and not enter the reed beds.

In the vicinity of Slavětín nad Metují are the Na Tibetu hill, Kozinec hill near Šestajovice-Roztoky, Na Čihadle hill, and Králíčkův kopec hill near Bohuslavice nad Metují.
