Olešnice has been documented in historical records since 1407. In the 19th century, the village was also known as Volešnice.
History and Villagescape
Several traditional foothill farmsteads and cottages have been preserved in Olešnice. There are also several small sacred monuments. A small chapel stands at the crossroads leading towards Rašovice and Hřibiny. In front of house no. 31 there is a restored crucifixion monument dating from 1876, which was erected at the expense of the Bartoš couple. Farmstead no. 54 is designated in Olešnice as an object of local significance.
Landscape
Olešnice lies in the foothills of the Orlické hory mountains. The built-up area is situated in the valley floodplain of the Olešnický potok stream. Its valley is broad and is bounded semi-openly on the west and east by slopes that are partly forested and partly covered with arable land. The landscape of Olešnice includes arable land, permanent grassland, bodies of water, as well as natural forests and groves.
Settlement Structure
Road III/3209 forms the settlement axis along the valley floodplain of the Olešnický potok.
