Proruby: Hotels and Accommodation

The surrounding area can also be explored via several marked and described trails. The route from Brandýs nad Orlicí to Potštejn is just under 15 kilometers long and is suitable for a half-day excursion. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads to Proruby. One hiking route follows a local road to the summit of Kapraď Hill. In good weather, it offers views across the landscape, of Potštejn, and of the Orlické Mountains.

The first written mention of Proruby dates from 1497. Until 1848, the village was part of the Potštejn estate and became independent in 1848. Historically, livelihoods were based mainly on agriculture and forestry. Later, weaving, lace-making, and shoemaking became occupations in Proruby.

Proruby is a checkpoint for the repeatedly held hiking event “Přes tři hrady.” On August 19, fishing competitions were held in Proruby once again, with many children and adults taking part.
