Villagescape and history

The earliest documented mentions of Šediviny date back to the 16th century. The cottages in Šediviny are still scattered along the slopes. Some former farmsteads can still be identified by groups of old lime trees and remnants of walls. On some meadows near former houses, the plant sweet cicely, originally from the Alps and scented like anise, continues to grow.

Culture

St. Joseph's Church was built in 1907 as a direct extension of an earlier chapel. The Art Nouveau building combines fired facing bricks with local gabbro on its exterior and is a distinctive feature of the Šediviny landscape. The church is also located on cycling route 4243.

A red, a yellow, and a blue hiking trail marker meet in Šediviny. The Šedivinská osmička is an approximately 12-kilometre hiking loop through Šediviny; Špičák is located along this route at approximately 8.4 kilometres.
