Slatina Nad Zdobnicí: Hotels and Accommodations

The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Slatina nad Zdobnicí was consecrated in 1699 and is considered one of the municipality’s interesting attractions. It is a spacious Baroque stone-and-brick building constructed by František Adam z Bubna. The church contains a richly carved Baroque wooden altar dating from around 1701, created by an unknown carver.

Culture

The large church bell dating from 1523 is considered the oldest monument in Slatina nad Zdobnicí. The local gallery displays paintings by many renowned artists who were also active in the region.

The picture gallery of the cultural club of the local agricultural cooperative was founded with the support of Professor Holý and teacher Alois Krčmář. Professor Holý lent works for the gallery or helped obtain them, including works by leading visual artists of the second half of the 19th century and the 20th century.

History

A historic route that was known as the Royal Route in the Middle Ages passed through Slatina nad Zdobnicí. It ran through the valley of the Zdobnice, then through the valley of the Slatinský Brook, and onward through the Suchá Forest via Kunvald to Silesia. During railway construction work, Bronze Age objects were found along this historic route in Slatina nad Zdobnicí. Gold and silver coins from the 13th and 14th centuries were also found along this historic route.

Nature

The Ve Slatinské stráni Nature Reserve protects marl slopes with heat-loving flora, including the lady’s slipper orchid. The Slatina nad Zdobnicí–Vápenka geological site is a wooded slope area located west of the municipality above the Zdobnice River, with several springs and travertine deposits. Access to this geological site is through trackless terrain; it lies more than 250 meters from the road.

Routes and Connections

A railway line from Rokytnice v Orlických horách to Doudleby nad Orlicí runs through Slatina nad Zdobnicí, where it connects to the Prague–Letohrad line.

Cycle Route 4075, which passes through Slatina nad Zdobnicí, is described as a moderately difficult 34.4-kilometer trekking cycling route. It runs from Vamberk via Slatina nad Zdobnicí to Říčky in the Orlické Mountains.

The “In the Footsteps of Czech Landscape Painters” route runs from Slatina nad Zdobnicí railway station via Rybná nad Zdobnicí, the area above the Rybná stop, Javornice, Zadní Ochoz, Nebeská Rybná, and the bridge in Hamernice back to Slatina nad Zdobnicí railway station; it is 28.5 km long.
