In Doubravice, the name Velehrádek passed from a hill to the fortress built there, “Hrad Velehrádek”.
Culture and History
The Ježkův dům school building was constructed in 1840, and classes began there in 1841. In honor of Karel Ježek, the building bears the name Ježkův dům and a memorial plaque dedicated to him.
Several years before the peak of glass bead production in 1902–1904, a similar private dye works operated in Doubravice at the company Finger a spol. During the peak of demand for glass beads in 1902–1904, 150 glass bead makers worked in Doubravice—the highest number among the 67 named places in the surrounding area.
At the edge of the forest stands the Pijácký balvan, a stone where glassworkers from Doubravice met during the First Republic. The reconciliation crosses between Doubravice and Zábřezí are associated with a locally transmitted story about Matěj Neumann from Doubravice and Kryštof Pecka from Zábřezí.
In the forest between Doubravice and Zábřezí lies the Sokolský tábor Ježkov facility, which is used annually for Sokol summer camps.
Nature and Trails
Čertovy hrady is a protected natural monument with rock formations and an extensive block field. Green-marked hiking and cycling trails run through the forest near Čertovy hrady; Doubravice is 2.5 kilometers away.
Zátlucké rybníky is a quiet place in the middle of the forest near Doubravice; there is a pavilion and benches at the ponds.
Getting Around
Cycling route 4136 of the “Na kole krajem K. J. Erbena” excursion passes through Doubravice. The stage itinerary specifies 1.5 kilometers between Zálesí and Doubravice and 2 kilometers between Doubravice and Zábřezí.
For the period from April 1 to December 12, 2026, bus route 692417 is scheduled to operate on the Dvůr Králové n. L.–Doubravice–Dubenec–Velichovky–Dvůr Králové n. L. route.
