Dolni Lanov: Hotels and accommodation

Dolní Lánov combines a distinctive sacred architectural ensemble with paths through the landscape and named mountains in the surrounding area. The Church of St. James and the adjacent cemetery form a valuable site and a prominent feature of the landscape.

Culture and history

Kovárna No. 1 in Dolní Lánov is designated as a technical monument. The Lázně Church is located in the immediate vicinity of Dolní Lánov, while the Spalona Strażnica ruins are located further afield in the surrounding region.

The Utraquist chapel and the separate bell tower of the Church of St. James the Elder date from the construction phase between 1511 and 1518. The later construction phase of the church lasted from 1599 to 1603 and was carried out under the direction of the Italian architect Carlo Valmadi. The chapels of the Stations of the Cross are made of red sandstone, are approximately one person high, and have niches topped with a vaulted shell shape.

The mountains Tetřeví vrch, Černá hora, Přední Žalý and Zadní Žalý are located in the vicinity of Dolní Lánov.

Paths through the landscape

A local walking route in Dolní Lánov leads along former farm tracks to the Church of St. James. The Srnec nature trail passes through a former game enclosure and provides information about the interesting history of this area.

A circular route leads from Vrchlabí via Horní and Dolní Lánov to Kunčice nad Labem and back to the starting point; it combines quiet roads, field tracks and short paved sections.
