Jivka: Hotels and accommodations

The Měděný důl Bohumír was reopened to the public in 2015. Visitors can walk through the underground mine where miners once worked and experience an authentic technical monument. The Měděný důl Bohumír features original mining technology, mine carts, work tools, authentic buildings, machinery and preserved details of local mining. The site serves protected bats both as a wintering site and as a summer refuge.

Nature and Mining Landscape

The Jívka spoil heap is the former settling facility of the Bohumír copper mine and copper ore processing plant. Today, it forms a mosaic of dry, extremely nutrient-poor and wet habitats in which several orchid species occur.

The spoil heap is best reached via the red-marked hiking trail from Horní Vernéřovice towards Malé Svatoňovice. One possible starting point is the Jívka, odbočka SKJ bus stop.

Culture and History

The village heritage zone of Dolní Vernéřovice in Jívka is characterized by loosely distributed masonry and log-house buildings in the style of the Podkrkonoší and Silesian house. It has been protected since January 1, 2005.

Jívka is home to a group of three Renaissance and Baroque boundary stones documenting the historical marking of the border between two estates. The Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a filial church and was formerly a parish church.

The column with the Pietà group (Sloup se sousoším Piety) in Jívka is considered a valuable example of regional sculpture and stonework from the end of the 17th century. The Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua is an aligned rural chapel from 1752 with a polygonal apse, porch and small roof turret; it is an example of vernacular sacred architecture.
