Vrchlabi: Hotels and accommodation

In Vrchlabí, the Naučná stezka Vrchlabím educational trail runs along the banks of the Elbe and passes two churches and two museums. It ends in a castle park with rare trees and views of Vrchlabí Castle, a Renaissance castle completed in 1546. In summer, guided tours with commentary are offered there, providing access to rooms that are normally closed to the public as well as the chapel.

Culture and history

St. Lawrence Church in Vrchlabí stands on the site of an originally Gothic single-nave church dating from the 14th century. The Augustinian monastery and monastery church in Vrchlabí form a Baroque complex protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The Krkonošské muzeum – Čtyři historické domky is an ensemble of four gabled houses in Vrchlabí, which are among the oldest examples of vernacular architecture in the Krkonoše.

Visitor centres and exhibitions

The Muzeum Krkonoš in Vrchlabí is the visitor centre of Krkonoše National Park and offers a modern interactive exhibition about the nature of the mountains and the lives of people in the mountains. It also provides information about the national park and about excursions to the sights and natural beauty of the Krkonoše. The exhibition at the Krkonošské muzeum – Čtyři historické domky has been closed for two years since 1 May 2025 due to renovation work. The Ekocentrum Krtek has a lecture hall for approximately 80 people, a small laboratory for 16 students, a small gallery and a library.

Water and nature

The Stezka vody educational trail, accessible since 2023, features informative stations at renovated ponds and pools, as well as the opportunity to observe living organisms above and below the water's surface. Aquacentrum Vrchlabí has a 25-metre swimming pool with four lanes. It also has a 32°C leisure pool with a current channel, massage loungers, bubble features, underwater jets, indoor and outdoor whirlpools, and a steam sauna.
