Petrikovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Petříkovice lies in a valley between the hills of the Jestřebí Mountains and below the steep slopes of Janský vrch. The mountain rises 697 meters above the source. The Czech–Polish border runs over Janský vrch, accompanied there by an educational trail. The mountain is also home to Krausova vyhlídka, a remarkable cliff-top viewpoint. Beneath the rocks near the Polish state border is a reconstructed spring with healing water.

Trails and Border-Area Exploration

The Okrzeszyn–Petříkovice border crossing is intended for pedestrians and cyclists and is open all day. Cycle Route 1 runs through it, leading downhill to the swimming pool in Petříkovice, a locality of the municipality of Chvaleč.

The Chvaleč–Petříkovice educational trail is an approximately 6-kilometer circular route. It leads from Petříkovice through several interesting places and back to Petříkovice, with several stations featuring information boards. The circular route begins at the parking lot by the swimming pool in Petříkovice.

History and Culture

Petříkovice was first mentioned in writing in 1012. A historic line of fortifications dating from 1937 to 1938 runs through the village; several of its structures are gradually being renovated as open-air museums.

T-S 52b “Na skále” is the easternmost structure in the Petříkovice sub-section. The structure is badly damaged; its condition, unchanged since the end of the war, illustrates the effects of explosives on a massive fortification structure. The T-S 54 “Nad dráhou” infantry bunker of the Czechoslovak fortifications was structurally completed in the area of the Petříkovice defensive barrier, while work on the electrical installation had begun.

One of the sights in Petříkovice is the Chapel of the Holy Family. It dates from 1847 and was renovated between 1990 and 2004. A monument erected after the war commemorates František Opočenský; it was ceremonially unveiled on September 28, 1946, and stands on the left side of the road toward Radvanice.

Swimming and Winter Sports

The swimming pool grounds are located in the central part of Petříkovice. There is a fire-water reservoir suitable for swimming, toilets, an outdoor shower, refreshments, and a parking lot. Swimming is at your own risk.

The Petříkovice ski resort has well-maintained downhill slopes and family-friendly skiing. A ski school and a small lift for children and complete beginners operate there every day.
