Malé Svatoňovice: Hotels and accommodation
Culture and history
The Čapek Brothers Museum in Malé Svatoňovice was founded in 1946. The Pilgrimage Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque building dating from 1734 and was rebuilt between 1830 and 1831. The religious complex also includes Mariánský sad, a forest park with a Way of the Cross and seven brick chapels of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary.
The Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre was built between 1902 and 1905 and consecrated on 8 April 1906. The portal of the Kateřina gallery is the entrance to a former drainage adit from the mid-19th century, which was used as a water source for the spa. The former spa park was established in 1830, is accessible from Karel Čapek Square, and features a music pavilion and an auditorium platform.
Coal mining is also part of the municipality's history: it began in Malé Svatoňovice in 1590 and ended in 1990. The municipality contains numerous sites associated with it, including a coal-mining monument, a terrain model depicting coal transport on a brake railway, a model of a coal-processing plant, and six information panels at sites connected with coal mining.
