Staré Buky: Hotels and Accommodation
The only registered cultural monument in Staré Buky is Kostel sv. Anny. The historic settlement itself extends across Dolnà Staré Buky, Prostřednà Staré Buky and Hornà Staré Buky on both banks of the Starobucký stream over a length of approximately five kilometres.
Culture and History
The history of Kostel sv. Anny dates back to 1355. A consecration or dedication of the church building, possibly to the Virgin Mary, is mentioned for 1360. The present church was built in 1692 by Baron de Waggi, expanded in 1755 by Count Wilibald von Schafgotsch, and received a presbytery in 1802, a manorial crypt in 1804 and a church tower in 1836.
Seven gravestones are set into the exterior wall of Kostel sv. Anny; the oldest dates from the 14th century. The furnishings include an illusionistically painted tracery window and almost completely preserved medieval trowel plaster with four red concentric circles. Around 2006/2007, the church was transferred into the ownership of the municipality of Staré Buky, after which safeguarding work began immediately.
At the beginning of the avenue near the municipal office of Staré Buky stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, created in 1715 and re-erected there after its restoration. The village also contains a two-storey pseudo-Gothic château from the late 19th century near the original site of the manorial residence. The monument to the victims of the First World War in the park in front of the former school building dates from 1921.
In the surroundings of Staré Buky is Lázně, a church. In the wider regional area are Spalona Strażnica, a ruin, and Opactwo Cysterskie w Krzeszowie, a monastery.
