Svoboda Nad Upou: Hotels and Accommodation

The Via Piette is a 9-kilometre educational trail with a walking time of approximately three hours and 291 metres of elevation gain.

Paths and Landscape

As a walking route in the vicinity of Svoboda nad Úpou, the Via Piette connects cultural monuments, technical sights and a stretch of natural landscape along the Černohorský potok stream. It is suitable for hiking and, in dry weather, also for mountain biking.

The route includes the Sklenářovické údolí natural monument, a complex of meadows and wetlands with an exceptionally well-preserved mosaic of vegetation as well as protected plant and animal species.

Culture and History

In the second half of the 19th century, the paper mills of Svoboda nad Úpou produced and exported the first cigarette paper in Central Europe.

The Rudolfovy slavnosti are held regularly in autumn in Svoboda nad Úpou. They include demonstrations of gold mining and gold panning.

Svoboda nad Úpou is one of five interconnected areas of SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC, which offers more than 50 kilometres of ski slopes with one ski pass.

At Farmapark Muchomůrka, you can observe, feed and pet free-roaming animals up close. The park offers nature-oriented play elements, a castle made of straw bales, swings, Indian tennis, croquet and a fire pit for roasting bread on sticks and barbecuing.

The regional railway line from Trutnov to Svoboda nad Úpou terminates at Svoboda nad Úpou station. Tourism in Svoboda nad Úpou began to develop as early as the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the construction of the railway line.
