Culture and history

In Chotěborky, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary dominates the small village on a hill and is also its most significant architectural monument. A southern Gothic portal from the first half of the 14th century has been preserved. The bell tower also contains a smaller death bell, donated in July 1928 by the married couple Holan from Hustířany.

The settlement of Chotěbořice, which was important in the Middle Ages, disappeared; only the church complex remains. The Column of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the middle of the village square. It probably dates from 1730 and may have been created by Matyáš Braun or his workshop. The birthplace of František Xaver Dušek is a Neoclassical solid building with stucco decoration on the façade.
