Chiesch: Hotels and accommodations
The architectural history of Chyše can be read in its château: it developed from a Gothic castle through Renaissance and Baroque forms and was remodeled in the English Gothic style in the mid-19th century. The château also houses a particularly valuable ceiling oil painting from 1699 by Petr Brandl.
Culture and history
Guided tours of Chyše Château include representative and private interiors such as Baroque halls, the library, Karel Čapek’s room, and a collection of hunting trophies.
The historic building complex also includes the former Carmelite monastery. It has been protected as a cultural monument since May 3, 1958. The former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites is an early Baroque, two-story building with four wings arranged around a rectangular monastery garden with a cloister.
The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is a single-nave, east-facing building with a semicircular termination. It adjoins the western building of the forecourt or outer bailey of the château directly. One of the church towers contains two rare bells from 1520 and 1572.
Brewery and beer
The Chyše château brewery was built between 1839 and 1841. The beer from Chyše is brewed according to old Bohemian recipes using Czech and Moravian malts, Saaz hops, and spring water from the Doupov Mountains.
With prior registration, visitors can take part in a brewery tour with beer tasting, explanations of the brewery’s history, a tour of a 10-hectoliter brewing facility, and a visit to the technological areas, including the fermentation and lagering cellars.
Cycle path
National Cycle Route No. 35 runs through Chyše on the Valeč–Chyše–Žlutice–Manětín section.
