Miltigau: Hotels and Accommodation

Miltigau combines historical landmarks with a landscape that extends into the municipal area of Slavkovský les. One special site is the Cheb-style timber-framed farmstead in Milíkov, which is open to the public for tourism on a limited basis.

Culture and History

The timber-framed farmstead houses a farming museum. It presents rural interiors, household, craft and agricultural equipment, as well as small agricultural machinery dating from the second half of the 19th century to the present day.

The farmstead exhibition documents the changing use of the agricultural complex: until 1945 as an independent residential and farm unit; the changes resulting from the expulsion of the original inhabitants; its subsequent use as a residence until the end of the occupants’ lives; and its later use as a recreational property for the popular tradition of holidays in the countryside.

The local architectural history also includes the Church of St Simon and St Jude, “kostel sv. Šimona a Judy,” in Milíkov. It is a single-nave late Neoclassical church with a square presbytery and a prismatic west tower. Its present appearance was shaped by alterations carried out between 1818 and 1820.

Nature and Landscape

Milíkov lies on the southwestern edge of Slavkovský les. Part of the municipal area lies within the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area; this includes zones II and III in forested areas and zone IV in built-up areas. The Těšovské pastviny Nature Monument consists of two parts within the municipal area of Milíkov.

Trails and Events

An easy walk of approximately 3 km in total leads from Milíkov to the nearby Milíkovská pískovna and then to the ponds behind the village in the direction of Těšov; the route passes through a wetland. Amphibian and reptile catching, explanations and demonstrations take place in the pond system of Milíkovská pískovna.

Traditional events also draw on the agricultural history of the area. The walking event “Kynšperská jarní patnáctka” follows a route leading to timber-framed farmstead No. 18 in Milíkov. At the traditional Milíkovské dožínky harvest festival, visitors can try out old agricultural tasks for themselves.

Geographical Location

Milíkov lies approximately 3 km from the main road between Cheb and Mariánské Lázně.
