Thurn – Cycle Route 604 and Cultural Monuments in Tuřany
The long-distance Cycle Route 604 is 28 km long and classified as easy. It is suitable for road bikes and runs through the valley of the Šitbořský potok in the Cheb Basin. Through Tuřany, it continues to a farmstead called “Tuřany statek”, which lies about one kilometre beyond the village.
Length, classification and bicycle type provide three independent points of comparison. When planning, these details can be considered separately from the historical themes in Tuřany; the route thus has its own place alongside architecture and folk culture.
At Farmstead No. 3, the architectural layout can be traced through several parts: the residential building, granary, barn and stables together form the basic components of a Cheb farmhouse. The combination of log construction, half-timbering and the richly checkerboard-patterned gable also describes the residential section through different constructional and design features.
Culture and Folk Culture
Farmstead No. 3 in Tuřany is dated to 1854. It preserves the four basic components of a Cheb farmhouse: the residential building, granary, barn and stables.
The residential section has a ground floor built using log construction, a half-timbered upper floor and a richly checkerboard-patterned gable. The chapel in Tuřany is one of the oldest and most interesting monuments in the village and dates from before 1782.
As a sacred building, the chapel has a rectangular floor plan and a three-sided termination on the western side. 1 in Lipoltov, Municipality of Tuřany, is registered as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 17495/4-147.
Revived Shrovetide processions are held in Tuřany as part of the traditional folk culture of the Karlovy Vary Region. Architecture, monument status and festival tradition are different cultural perspectives; they can be considered separately when putting together a day’s itinerary.
Getting There
Regional bus route 410110 connects Tuřany with Cheb and Sokolov via Nebanice, Odrava, Okrouhlá, Kynšperk nad Ohří and Libavské Údolí. The two destinations and the named intermediate stops can be taken into account separately when planning your personal route.
The bus connection has a different focus from the cycle route: the sequence of places and the mode of transport are contrasted here with the route description. You can consider these different details side by side when planning without mixing the two forms of travel.

If a hotel in Thurn is included in the travel plans, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can represent different aspects for comparison. The appropriate weighting depends on your own travel plan; the specific details of the cycle route, cultural monuments and bus route remain independent of this.
Landscape and Surroundings
The Lysina mountain, the Center of Europe monument and Lobezský vrch mountain are located in the surroundings of Tuřany. The three destinations therefore belong to the same immediate regional context.
The wider regional surroundings of Tuřany include Chrudim mountain, Streicher Rang mountain and St. Michael’s Church in Bad Brambach.
