Louschnitz: Hotels and accommodations

In Loužnice, the Loužnické lavičky are maintained as places to rest, go on excursions, and enjoy beautiful views of the countryside. An overview lists eight points: U Modřínu, U Posrané hrobky, U Zvoničky, U Chaty, U Velkého vršku, U Albíny, Na koupališti, and Na Vyhlídce.

Nature and landscape

During the summer months, swimming is permitted at your own risk in Loužnice’s fire-water reservoir. The reservoir is fed by the Plchovský stream, which flows through a protected area.

The Kopaňský stream flows through the Loužnice valley along its entire length and divides the municipality into two parts. State Road No. 10/E65 from Prague to Harrachov runs along the stream. At the northern edge of Loužnice lies Mill No. 1 on the Kopaňský stream, a left tributary of the Žernovník; the route of the millrace and its banks are clearly visible in the terrain.

History and crafts

Loužnice is also associated with the production of costume jewelry: in 1894, there were several businesses of this kind, including the Link family’s factory, where glass rods were processed into beads. Shortly before the First World War, bead pressing was introduced at the furnaces in Loužnice. In Kopani, there was a facility for grinding glass rings, locally known as Bengle.

Culture and community life

The Sokolovna cultural center in Loužnice has existed since 1963. Its rooms are suitable for cultural events, dances, discos, theater and film screenings, lectures, exhibitions, sports events, and gymnastics classes. The municipal library is also regularly located there.

The Loužnice bell tower was rebuilt and renovated, and on September 28, 2014, it was consecrated together with a statue of Saint Wenceslas carved from the fallen linden tree. The small sacred complex is considered the municipality’s only sacred building. The Loužnický Betlém has been made by Bedřich Rathouský since 2017.
