Svojkov: Hotels and Accommodation

In the centre of Svojkov is the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas. It was completed and consecrated in 1726 and is protected as a historic monument; services are held there occasionally.

Culture and History

Another chapel is the “kaple Panny Marie v Modlivém dole”, a Neo-Gothic chapel carved from sandstone with a portal dating from 1836. The ruins of Svojkov Castle and its park are a landmark in Svojkov. The first documented owner of Svojkov Castle was Jan Ješek ze Svojkova in 1370. The former Svojkov château burned down to its foundations during renovations in 1958 and was later completely demolished.

The Václavský jarmark takes place every year on the last Saturday in September in Zámecká zahrada and includes stalls selling traditional handicraft products. The ruins of Svojkov Castle and Modlivý důl are also among the attractions on the excursion “Along the Ploučnice in Search of Filming Locations”.
