Kobyly: Hotels and accommodations

Kobyly connects a section of the Way of St. James with a diverse cultural landscape. The Way of St. James runs through Kobyly and is part of the Žitava Route, which connects the German town of Zittau with Prague. This route follows an old pilgrimage and trade route.

Landscape

Kobyly lies at an elevation of 310 to 345 meters above sea level in a varied landscape with a deeply incised stream valley. A planting of linden trees dating from the beginning of the 20th century is a defining landscape element in Kobyly. The original buildings include farmsteads with masonry and log-built houses.

On the five-kilometer section from Letařovice, there is a bench for resting next to the pilgrimage stone in Vorkleblice.

On the way

The Topolina viewpoint offers wide-ranging views from an elevation of 395 meters above sea level. Three cycle routes pass through Kobyly and connect its individual parts. Cycle route no. 3044 runs from Dlouhý most to Chocnějovice and is 34 kilometers long. Route 3050 connects the Stohánek rock castle with Pěnčín and is 29.5 kilometers long. Route 3048 runs through Kobyly from Svijany to Osečná.

Kobyly offers opportunities for agritourism. On weekdays, the village is served by three bus lines.

Culture

The settlement of Kobyly includes the Chapel of St. Wenceslas, built in 1900. The two-story log house “Venkovský dům | Kobyly” in the western part of the Kojecko district dates from the 18th century.

Kobyly 1 is a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I and a burial ground on a gentle slope above the village. At the same time, Kobyly 1 is the archaeological site that gave its name to the Kobyly group.

The Sokol clubhouse is scheduled to host the annual general meeting of the Havlovice Volunteer Fire Brigade on January 3, 2026, and the elementary school Kobyly parents’ ball on February 21, 2026. Every year, residents gather at the Chapel of St. Gall in Havlovice to sing Christmas carols. The Sokol clubhouse in Nechálov is now used mainly as a meeting place and for cultural events.
