Mirova Pod Kozakovem: Hotels and Accommodations

The sandstone rock area near Mírová pod Kozákovem is part of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area.

Nature

The Klokočské skály Nature Reserve is a rock wall up to 60 meters thick, formed from Paleozoic sandstones and featuring numerous cave niches. The weathering of less resistant sections of rock and other geomorphological processes created caves, rock arches, tunnels, mushroom rocks, and rock towers.

Zdenčina skála is a ten-meter-high viewpoint on the edge of the rock area. It can be reached via steps carved into the rock and offers a view of the Jizera Valley.

History

Rotštejn Castle is a castle ruin built partly of masonry and partly carved into a block of four sandstone rocks. Since 1998, Rotštejn has gradually been made accessible to the public; the first full tourist season began in 2004.

The Klokočské průchody are 70-meter-long rock steps that have been part of a trade route since the Middle Ages.

Getting Around

Parking is available in Loktuše in the municipality of Mírová pod Kozákovem. The Rotštejn Castle ruin can be reached from there via a yellow-marked hiking trail of approximately 1.5 kilometers.

The Postojna–Amerika Cave is the only accessible cave in Klokočské skály and is closed in winter because of the breeding season of bats.

The Dubecko Lookout Tower has a covered observation platform at a height of 33 meters, offering expansive views across the Český ráj landscape. Weather permitting, the lookout tower is accessible year-round; the key for entry can be borrowed against a deposit from Mr. Lejsek at house Dubecko No. 6, approximately 150 meters from the lookout tower.

There is a small ski slope in Mírová pod Kozákovem. There are also water pools suitable for swimming.
