Hiking and Nature

The protected natural monument of Borecké skály lies within the municipal areas of Rovensko pod Troskami and Hrubá Skála. Borecké skály is a rock city formed from Upper Cretaceous quartz sandstone, crossed by a marked hiking trail with viewpoints. Kestrels, eagle owls, and rare ravens nest in Borecké skály.

One of the rock viewpoints in Bor Forest above Rovensko pod Troskami is named after Svatopluk Čech; the Svatopluk Čech viewpoint along the route offers a view of Trosky.

Culture and History

A Baroque Marian column dating from 1744 stands in the square of Rovensko pod Troskami. In the center of the square is the sculpture group “Rozhovor” by sculptor Josef Drahoňovský.

The wooden bell tower of Rovensko pod Troskami dates from 1630 and has three unique so-called rebel bells, which hang with their clappers pointing upward and are set in motion by stepping on them. During the ringing, the wooden bell tower is open every Sunday and on public holidays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., without a guided tour and in the presence of the bell ringers.
