Landscape and Trails

Jiříkov can be reached via numerous marked hiking and cycling trails in the surrounding area. Bus route 912 runs to Jiříkov from the direction of Rýmařov and Šternberk. Jiříkov has completed a safe pedestrian connection between a park-and-ride area and Sovinec Castle.

Sovinec Castle

Sovinec Castle was built at the end of the 13th century and has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958. Cultural events take place there from April to October; the castle also hosts various events every year.

Culture and Local History

Jiříkov and its inhabitants play a leading role in Bohdan Sláma’s film “Divoké včely”. In Křížov, the former chapel now serves as a gallery and souvenir shop under the name “Galerie v Kapli sv. Františka”. The historicist church in Kněžpole was built in 1908–1909. Advent concerts are held in the church in Jiříkov. The church in Těchanov has currently been non-functional for an extended period and is being damaged by moisture.

Pradědova Gallery

At Pradědova Gallery, a local woodcarver exhibits carved sculptures. The statue of the ruler of the Altvater Mountains, the forefather Praděd, is 10.4 metres tall and weighs 15 tonnes. The grounds of Pradědova Gallery include an 8-hectare fallow deer farm that is particularly suitable for children.
