Staré Heřminovy: Hotels and Accommodations

Nature

Staré Heřminovy is located in the Nízký Jeseník. The Stará Voda stream flows through the village; the houses stand in two rows on either side of the stream in a sunny valley.

History

Staré Heřminovy was founded in 1253 and was one of the monastic villages established in the area around Benešov. After the village was burned down in 1474, settlers from Silesia and Brandenburg rebuilt the destroyed settlement around 1521.

Culture

A war memorial erected in 1920 stands in a small park in the village by the cemetery wall. The chapels in Staré Heřminovy include the Czechs Chapel. The Church of Saint Wenceslas has a still-functioning tower clock from 1885.

The historic Sandlerův mlýn mill stood at a crossroads of district roads. Later, the younger son Fritz had a water turbine built there. Cultural and social events in Staré Heřminovy also include a competition for young firefighters.

In the center of Staré Heřminovy, in front of the cultural center, there are a bus stop, a grocery store, the municipal office, the church, the fire station, and an inn.
