Horní Lomná: Hotels and accommodations

The Mionší National Nature Reserve is the largest complex of Carpathian fir-beech forest in the Czech Republic. Horní Lomná shares this reserve with the neighboring municipality of Dolní Lomná. The village is located in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids on the Lomná stream and is considered a recreational area.

Nature

Ancient beeches and firs grow in Mionší. The large amount of deadwood provides a habitat for numerous rare fungi, beetles, and birds. The Kyčmol Natural Monument is a small wet meadow in the valley of the Lomná River, in the southernmost part of the treeless Kyčmol area.

Since 2015, access to the Mionší educational trail, which runs along the edge of the primeval forest, has only been possible with a guiding service provided by the municipality of Dolní Lomná.

Mountains and winter

Velký Polom is the easternmost thousand-meter peak in the Beskids on the Czech-Slovak border. At the same time, it forms an important hub for hiking trails to Severka, Skalka, Muřinkový vrch, and Bílý Kříž. Horní Lomná also has numerous ridge trails for cross-country skiing.

Culture

The neo-Gothic Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross was built between 1894 and 1896 and consecrated on June 12, 1896. Numerous folk buildings have been preserved in Horní Lomná, especially in the Horní Přeláč area.

The Stations of the Cross in Horní Lomná leads through a forest ravine above the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and has a very peaceful, meditative atmosphere. It is approximately 700–900 meters long and can be completed at a leisurely pace in 20–30 minutes.

The Lurdská jeskyně cave with the Mariánská studánka spring is just a few steps from the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. Pilgrims, tourists, and locals have been coming here for more than a hundred years.
