Chotěbuz: Hotels and Accommodation

The Chotěbuz-Podobora archaeological site is one of the most significant prehistoric and early medieval monuments in Cieszyn Silesia. It is located on a river terrace where a large three-part hillfort once stood; the Olše originally flowed below the site.

Archaeology and History

The Chotěbuz-Podobora Archaeopark reconstructs the former hillfort with fortifications, period dwellings, production facilities, a cult structure, and an ironworking furnace. Interactive exhibitions about the local archaeological site are complemented by a ceramics workshop with a kiln and potter’s wheel. The workshop is used for various school and public events.

The Museum of Czechoslovak Light Fortifications Chotěbuz comprises three reconstructed light fortification structures of the vz. 37 type, each illustrating a different historical era. Other dates can also be arranged by prior agreement for school visits and excursions.

Hláska by the castle is an approximately 10-metre-high cylindrical stone tower and the last surviving remnant of Chotěbuz’s Gothic fortifications from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Activities

Cycle Route 6100 between Dolní Těrlicko and Albrechtice passes through Chotěbuz. Cycle Route 10 between Český Těšín, Karviná, and Bohumín also passes through Chotěbuz.

Stáj U Luka has two outdoor riding arenas – a sand arena and a sand arena with geotextile – measuring 4,000 m², as well as a 70 × 24 m indoor riding arena with show-jumping equipment. It offers rides in the surrounding area, carriage rides, and sleigh rides in winter.
