Bordovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Bordovice stretches for approximately 2 km along the banks of the Lichnovský potok. The valley of Bordovice is enclosed by high slopes: in the northwest, they reach 608 m at Na Peklech, and in the southeast, 918 m at Velký Javorník.

Nature and Landscape

Part of Bordovice lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy), while another part is located in the Podbeskydská pahorkatina Nature Park. In the nearby area, Velký Kámen is a 3.649 ha nature monument. It protects an extensive outcrop of sandstone layers as well as a naturally developed forest stand with high biodiversity.

Culture and History

Bordovice has a single registered immovable cultural monument: the Roubený dům. The detached, single-storey wooden building is constructed using log construction and has a gabled roof, vertically boarded gables, a ventilation opening, and underboarding. The building dates from the first half of the 19th century and was the birthplace of the partisan Josef Drozd.

Bordovice was first mentioned in 1584 and remained closely connected with the Hukvaldy estate. Its origin is traditionally assumed to date back to the 13th century; it is generally believed that the municipality was founded on land belonging to this estate that came into being after forest areas were cleared.

The village's masonry chapel was completed in 1877, consecrated in 1894, and held church services for the first time in 1925. As early as 1568, an iron hammer mill in Bordovice was purchased by the nobleman Kašpar Boček; it stood on the site of Mr. Bumbala's forge.

Hiking and Views

The green-marked KČT hiking trail 4840 runs along the southern border of Bordovice from Frenštát pod Radhoštěm to Velký Javorník and continues via Malý Javorník to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Another hiking connection from Velký Javorník to the Bordovice bus stop initially follows a green-marked route to Nad Horečkami (1.7 km) and then a yellow-marked route to the Bordovice bus stop (4.3 km in total).

The “Bordovice, rozc.” bus stop has a bus bay and a passenger shelter in at least one direction of travel. The Velký Javorník lookout tower is also located nearby, a 25.915 m-high wooden tower on the 918 m-high summit of the same name, with two viewing platforms. From there, the view extends across the Frenštátská brázda and the front Beskydy range to Lysá hora, as well as to Ondřejník, Poodří, and Štramberk, and to the Veřovické vrchy.

The Gulášové slavnosti was held for the fourth time and included eight cooking teams.
